Four steps,
no surprises.
Most of our engagements follow the same shape. Here's what to expect from first email to handover.
Discovery call
We start with a call — video or audio, whichever you prefer. No deck, no sales pitch. You tell us what you’re working on, what’s stuck, and what success would look like.
By the end, you’ll have a clear sense of whether we can help and what that might look like. If we’re not the right fit, we’ll say so and try to point you somewhere useful.
Scoping & proposal
If we’re a fit, we’ll write up a proposal: the work we’d do, how long it’ll take, what it costs, and what you get at the end. Fixed-fee or time-and-materials, whichever makes more sense for the project.
You’ll see the assumptions we’re making, the risks we’ve spotted, and the questions still open. Nothing is hidden in a footnote.
Build
Once we start, you’re never wondering what’s happening. Weekly demos of working software, async written updates between them, and a shared backlog you can read at any time.
We optimize for clarity over billable hours. If something isn’t working, we’ll say so early and propose what to change.
Ship & hand-off
We deploy to production with you, write the docs your team will actually read, and walk them through the system. If you have an in-house team taking over, we make sure they’re set up to keep building.
Some clients keep us on a small retainer afterward. Others don’t need to. Both are fine.
Things people usually ask.
Do you take equity-only projects?
Rarely. We sometimes take a mix of cash + small equity for projects we genuinely believe in, but a fully equity-only engagement is unusual for us. Best to ask.
What's your minimum engagement size?
For build work, around 4 weeks. For consultancy (advisory, audits, fractional CTO), as little as a few hours. We can scope smaller pieces of work if it makes sense.
Do you work with non-technical founders?
Yes — often. We translate between technical and business languages without losing detail, and we write proposals you can read end-to-end without a glossary.
Where are you based? What time zones do you cover?
Remote-first. We work comfortably across European and US time zones and overlap with Asia-Pacific for parts of the day. Async-friendly by default.
How fast can you start?
Usually within 1–2 weeks of a signed proposal. For urgent advisory work, sooner.
What if my project doesn't fit your services exactly?
Ask anyway. If we're not the right fit we'll tell you, and we'll often know someone who is.
Got an idea?
Let's talk.
Whether you have a rough sketch on a napkin or a fully-spec'd platform to build, we'd love to hear about it. Honest conversations, no sales pitch.
